Kieran Culkin, In 2008, Kieran was 26 and Dakota Culkin was 29 when she was struck by a car in Los Angeles, which resulted in her death.
Kieran Culkin shares his memory with his sister, Dakota
Sixteen years after his older sister’s death due to a horrific accident, Kieran Culkin opened up about the impact her death had on his entire family. In an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, the extremely private actor talked candidly about her passing and how, nearly twenty years later, he is still affected by her passing.
The actor, who had a close relationship with his late sister, won three Emmys for his portrayal of Roman Roy in the popular HBO series Succession. “After a couple seasons on Succession, I realized there was some stuff that Roman did that I was like, ‘Oh, that’s my sister,'” he stated.
Dakota’s sense of comedy was that. She was able to figure out just the proper way to make fun of you that would make you laugh while still being hilarious. She was that person. The father of two usually keeps quiet about family matters, although he has already spoken up about the intense suffering that came with losing his sister.
“That’s the worst thing that’s ever happened, and there’s no sugar coating that one,” Kieran Culkin stated in a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Chronicle. He remarked, “Each one of us handled it very differently,” referring to his siblings. “I think everyone was just torn up inside.”
He clarified that time cannot mend scars like this one, even when the years are passing slowly. “I accepted at the time that this is going to be forever, and it’s never going to be fine,” he stated. “It’s always going to be devastating.”
