After a near-fatal medical crisis last year, Hayley Erbert triumphantly returned to the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom.
The ballerina and Hayley Erbert’s husband, Dancing With the Stars judge Derek Hough, performed heartily on the competition’s October 15 show, dancing to Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” as part of the season’s Dedication Night, almost a year after a terrifying medical incident.
Derek created a video package as part of their return that includes footage from their August 23 wedding and opens with the words, “With all of my heart, I love you, Hayley.”
About Hayley Erbert Triumphantly’s mishap and treatment
Since having brain surgery, Hayley Erbert has been on her road to recovery.
The wife of Derek Hough and the dancer was taken to the hospital during a performance in December 2023 due to blood in her skull.
Erbert required a craniectomy, a procedure that removes a part of the skull, when it was determined that he had a cerebral hemorrhage from a ruptured blood artery.
On the October 15 episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” she talked about her experience when husband Derek Hough recalled that his wife had “had full seizures” and had been sent to the hospital.
Derek and Hayley also said backstage following their performance that they would be sharing additional details about the experience in a documentary.
Hayley, a former member of the dance company, is dancing again less than a year after undergoing surgery. She triumphantly returns to the Dancing with the Stars ballroom tonight after her near-death experience.
Derek and Hayley’s statement
“As a couple, I will say that Derek was my rock through it all,” Hayley told Parade and a few other sites backstage following their dance. He was kind and supportive throughout one of the most trying moments of my life, when I was unable to be active or physically engaged.
