Joining a star-studded lineup at the fourth Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town, South Africa, the Prince of Wales stated his desire “to champion the dreamers, the thinkers and the innovators from every walk of life, who share an ambition to build a better, more sustainable world.”
As he began and ended his address with lines in nine African languages, including Swahili, Zulu, and Sesotho, the audience cheered.
Prince William’s appeared at Earthshot Prize Awards
Wearing a vintage jacket and a Prince of Wales check blazer that he got from a local vintage store in London, together with sustainable trainers from Purified Shoes that are biodegradable and contain no plastic, William was flying the flag for sustainable fashion as he arrived on the green carpet.
Star Billy Porter and supermodels Heidi Klum and Winnie Harlow were among the guests at the glitzy Earthshot Prize Awards presentation, which honored creative solutions to “repair the planet” and was held in a sustainable eco-dome.
France, Ghana, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Nepal are among the 15 Earthshot finalists that Prince William met with earlier in the day at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
Protecting and restoring nature, cleaning our air, revitalizing our oceans, creating a waste-free world, and addressing our climate are the five categories, or Earthshot Prize Awards.
Heidi Klum’s stunning presence
As she delivered the Fix Our Climate category award, Heidi Klum, dressed in an orange vintage Halston outfit, expressed her humility. The winners were Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems (ATS), who have created safe technology to absorb waste heat and turn it into power.
The Canadian actress revealed High Ambition Coalition for Nature as the Revive Our Oceans category winner. By 2030, the organization hopes to collaborate with governments to save 30% of the world’s oceans.
Tendai Mtawarira’s presence
GAYO was given the Clean Our Air category’s final prize by Tendai Mtawarira, also known as The Beast, a former South African rugby player.
Tendai, the most-capped prop in Springbok history, played touch rugby with young players at Ocean View School earlier this week alongside Prince William.
