Con artist and fraudster Anna Sorokin, better known by her stage name Anna Delvey, pretended to be a wealthy heiress in order to get entry to the affluent New York social scene. Anna Delvey has hidden all of her physical characteristics, including her height, despite her fame.
Anna Delvey, Key Facts
- Many people believed Anna Delvey to be 5 feet 4 inches tall based only on pictures of her on social media, especially following her recent Dancing with Stars participation.
- In addition, Delvey shared the stage with her five-foot-six boyfriend, Ezra Sosa.
- Reaching up to his forehead and dressed in two-inch heels for her debut performance, the dancer appeared just as tall to him.
Aside from her height, a lot of people were intrigued by the dancer’s jeweled ankle monitor, which revealed cases from her past when the NYPD detained Delvey after a sting operation on suspicion of fraud and larceny.
The Sinfluencer, Anna Sorokin: The True Story of Million Dollar Fraudstar, and the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna were among the shows that highlighted her case. Her DWS debut became highly contentious due to this finding, placing pressure on the show’s crew.
Anna Delvey, who was reared in the Russian town of Domodedova, outside of Moscow, had a difficult upbringing in a middle-class household. Her mother owned a neighborhood convenience store, while her father drove a truck.
Anna Delvey took advantage of her position by conducting illicit wire transfers between multiple bank accounts and fabricating fraudulent financial statements to demonstrate she had a multimillion-euro trust fund.
Similarly, she deceived banks and financial organizations into paying huge sums of money and taking out loans without collateral by using the documents and fraud checks. Delvey used to expand her social network in the affluent society while funding her opulent lifestyle in a number of prestigious hotels and skyscrapers.
Police records state that Anna Delvey conned important businesses, lodging establishments, and private citizens out of more than $275k over a four-year period. In order to attract a large number of donors, she came up with the concept for the Anna Delvey Foundation around that period, a private club devoted to art.
Anna Delvey was convicted on eight counts, including grand larceny, by the State Supreme Court in Manhattan following her arrest. She was given a sentence of four to twelve years in state prison and a $24,000 fine by the court.
Anna Delvey was taken into immediate custody by US immigration after being released from prison in 2021 due to overstaying her visa. Since the legal dispute was still ongoing, they forced her to wear an ankle monitor to track her whereabouts.
